The AEC will be closed to students on Friday 22nd November for a Staff Development day.
Dear parents and carers,
The AEC will be closed to students on Thursday 17th October 2013. This is due to industrial action. The industrial action is not directly against the AEC or Hampshire County Council, but is part of an on-going national campaign. The decision to close the centre has not been taken lightly and is based upon the health and safety of all. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Last week, The Outdoor and Adventurous Kayaking group went on a day trip to paddle the River Dart in Devon. The students have been training really hard in the build up to the trip. The weather was kind and the group all had a great time paddling the river. Well done to staff and students involved. To see photos of the trip click here.
On Friday 13th September, a group of students visited Roche Court. They were taken on a tour of the Sculpture Park where they discussed their opinions of the art with the staff. Ater a break the group then took part in creating some large scale drawings inspired by the work they had seen earlier in the day.
All the work completed by students directly supports their GCSE art work and can be used as evidence in their work portfolio.
On Wednesday 11th September, students visited Longmeadow Community for the unveiling of artwork they had created during the last academic year supported by the Colour Factory artists, Jenny Muncaster and Rachel Alexander. During the morning there were some work stations where the students learned to use charcoal and make prints based on, animals, leaves and natural textures.
The series of artworks has created a colourful and welcoming exterior for the Centre. The project was funded by The Lights Outreach and Education Programme and Hampshire County Council.
